Professional Practice symposium 2018

The Professional Practice symposium was held on 11 December 2018 in The Hub, Otago Polytechnic, Forth Street, Dunedin. The symposium was organised and hosted by Capable NZ on the theme of Exploring Professional Futures.

Proceedings were opened with a keynote address by Otago Polytechnic Chief Executive Phil Ker on the topic “Professional Practice as a future vocational learning focus.” Staff and postgraduate students presented their research in three simultaneous streams during the morning, grouped into the following themes:

  • Learning and Teaching
  • Leadership & Careers
  • Social Innovation & Empowerment
  • Experiential Learning & Transformation
  • Assessment
  • Employability & Capability

In the afternoon a writing workshop was held for doctorate students while others attended plenary sessions.
