This programme is for engineering students from the International College of Technology (Kanazawa) (ICT).
It will give you the chance to develop good English Language skills that relate to engineering. This will open up employment opportunities around the world.
This certificate is at the same level as a high b2 on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) high B2.
Career opportunities
Graduates work in engineering, IT and related industries. English language skills help graduates to find work around the world.
Entry requirements
- This programme is for Japanese learners who have already completed some engineering studies in Japan.
- The majority of learners will be from the International College of Technology (Kanazawa) (ICT) in Japan and will have completed two years of engineering studies.
Your workload
You will study for 30 hours per week (for 40 weeks).
You will learn
The programme starts with a compulsory course - Functional English. This is taught for the first three weeks. This is followed by Introduction to Engineering Practice and Engineering English Communication.
English is taught across the entire programme with an engineering context.
Partway through the programme, you will begin your three elective courses. The final course is the Engineering Project. This project gives you the chance to work on a project and demonstrate the skills you have gained.
Further study options
Kanazawa ICT's programme allows for specialisation in the fourth year in mechanical, electrical, information technology and chemical engineering (after completion of this Level 5 English language certificate). The courses within this certificate have been designed to align to the graduate outcomes and to prepare you for further study.
