BRIDGING OPTIONS

Health Bridging Certificate (Level 3 and 4)

Don’t have the academic requirements you need to enter one of our diploma- or degree-level healthcare programmes? No problem. By studying courses such as Function of the Human Body and an Introduction to Careers in Health, you will be well-prepared to apply for your chosen diploma or degree. This programme is made up of two qualifications - the New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 3) with a health context and the New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 4) with a health context.

Health Bridging Certificate (Level 4 only)

This Level 4 programme is the second part of our health bridging pathway for those that don't yet meet the entry requirements for our diploma- or degree-level health programmes. To enter directly into Level 4, you need to hold a New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 3) (our Level 3 Health Bridging certificate), or equivalent. If you don't hold that qualification, you'll need to do the Level 3 and Level 4 programme which starts in February.

BACHELOR

Bachelor of Midwifery

  • Dunedin or other
  • Three years full-time (45 weeks per year); part-time option available over four years

Attain a unique and internationally-renowned qualification which leads to registration as a midwife in New Zealand. Receive a solid theoretical education and gain significant midwifery practice in a range of settings. Study in one of five satellites through blended learning with compulsory block courses in Dunedin or Kapiti.

POSTGRADUATE

Postgraduate Certificate in Midwifery Practice

  • Online with one, two day workshop
  • Six months full-time*

Already a registered midwife and looking for a way to expand your professional practice? Undertake four courses of seven weeks each that focus on aspects of midwifery practice and develop your existing skills. We are now also offering a Postgraduate Certificate Complex Care Pathway. Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery

Build on the Postgraduate Certificate in Midwifery Practice to extend your midwifery knowledge through a review of current thinking and research. Tailor the courses to enhance your employment potential.

Master of Midwifery

This qualification allows you to develop skills through independent research and scholarship, thus increasing your career prospects. Students can build on from their Postgraduate Diploma with another year to achieve their Master of Midwifery degree.
