Research Director and Head of Information Technology Farhad Mehdipour had the opportunity to participate in the International Conference of Future Machine Learning and Data Science in Sydney recently.
Farhad presented a paper at the conference which he had co-authored with Professor Ari Aharari of Sojo University in Japan.
Their project introduces an AI-driven weight control system designed to optimise feed speed in cutting machines, addressing inefficiencies in packaging manufacturing.
“By integrating AI algorithms and IoT sensors, the system automates real-time monitoring and material adjustments, reducing downtime and labour costs while enhancing operational efficiency,” says Farhad.
Farhad says the conference gave him the chance to discuss ongoing research with Dr Aharari and his old friend and research partner Professor Bahman Javadi of Western Sydney University.
The group explored opportunities to extend their collaboration, and learned about the wonderful projects Professor Javadi is leading in leading-edge areas of research.
“During the conference, I also had the opportunity to reconnect with Professor Iman Ardekani and hear about his fascinating data-driven apiculture project,” says Farhad.
Farhad was grateful to his fellow academics for their valuable time and insightful contributions.
“I am truly grateful for these inspiring discussions and the potential for future collaboration,” says Farhad.
