Please see the below message we have received from The Robertson Library:
On the 10th and 24th of March, from 9am to 10am, we will be using the social space at the front (foyer) of the Robertson Library to host two Mihi Whakatau ceremonies. The mihi whakatau is an official welcome for our new colleagues to the University Library. This event is designed to remove tapu (restrictions) of the manuhiri (visitors) and integrate them with the library and the wider University community.
The primary purpose of the mihi whakatau is to make our new colleagues feel warmly welcomed and to establish meaningful connections. It is a gesture of support and care, demonstrating that we will look after them in their new roles. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for them to share a bit about their background and who they are in relation to our community.
We are mindful of the potential disruption to students and will do our best to keep it to a minimum.
