It's been a busy start to the year at Otago Polytechnic's student village Te Pā Tauira, situated just across the road from our main Dunedin campus.

Village kaimahi have been excited to welcome 213 first year residents into their new home away from home..

Move-in week was packed full of activities including a tiki tour around some of Ōtepoti’s hot spots, checking out Dunedin Railway Station, St Clair beach, and Baldwin Street (officially the world's steepest street).

A range of events were organised to give the residents a chance to mix with their new neighbours in the student community with an Amazing Race challenge and a Quiz night

Te Pā Tauira was also invited to join University of Otago halls for the College Sports Day as part of O-Week. Residents joined together to play some friendly competitive games of volleyball, touch rugby, football, netball, and tug of war against their tertiary rivals.

The on-campus student village features a mix of dorm rooms, studios, and apartments.  Its prime location ensures akonga have a short walk to class, while being just minutes away from libraries, gyms, sports grounds, and the city centre.

Community Co-ordinator Mikayla Wilden says the 220 residents are now getting stuck into their courses for the year and enjoying life at Te Pā.
