Happy Transgender Day of Visibility!

Today, 31 March, not only is the last day of Pride Month in Dunedin, it is also International Transgender Day of Visibility.

Today is a day to acknowledge the beautiful life we can live when we are our authentic selves.

Today is a day to acknowledge how incredibly difficult it can be to live as our authentic selves.

It has particularly been a difficult time for many transgender people lately as we have been chosen as a current political punching bag by politicians and those in power around the world. It can feel more and more like the world is a dangerous place that doesn't want us in it.

But that is not the case.

We live in wonderful, silly, intelligent, stunning, beautiful, handsome, hilarious, generous ways. The world would be worse off without our unique perspectives that we bring!

So to all my fellow transgender, non-binary, and/or questioning-their-gender (and including those who aren't out yet!) kaimahi and ākonga - I am so incredibly happy to have you here with me.
