Mitre 10 Mega Dunedin has given Otago Polytechnic' Living Campus a large amount of Swan Plants that staff and students can collect from The Hub on May 5 between 11.30 and 12.30.

Gomphocarpus fruticosus (swan plant) is a plant native to South Africa. It is common in Australia and New Zealand where it is a host of the monarch butterfly. It is a perennial and can be frost tender. You can plant in your garden or containers. Five plants maximum per person.

Please note that the plant's tissues contain sufficient cardenolides that consumption of significant quantities of the plant's leaves, stems, or fruit may lead to death in livestock and humans.

Thank you to the garden center team at Mitre 10 Dunedin!

The Living Campus team will also be planting pockets of the swan plant on your Living Campus over the next week.
