We’re proud to share that one of our Construction students has been named a finalist in the Student Excellence Award category at the 2026 National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Excellence Awards.

Tianyi Yin said she was genuinely surprised and honoured to be recognised alongside other finalists. The recognition is a reflection of her dedication and growing involvement in the industry over the past year through events, volunteering, and professional development.

NAWIC plays an important role in promoting diversity and inclusion across New Zealand’s construction sector, and this award highlights students who show strong potential in the field.

Finalists will be celebrated at the NAWIC Excellence Awards in Wellington on 24 July 2026.

Last year, the Bachelor of Construction student earned industry recognition for an award-winning essay on how AI can improve cost forecasting accuracy and efficiency. Tianyi came first in the Quantity Surveyors Emerging Professionals essay competition, which is part of the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors Conference.

Tianyi’s journey so far highlights the importance of not only building technical knowledge, but also developing adaptability, collaboration skills, and openness to new technologies. These qualities will shape the next generation of Quantity Surveyors.

Congratulations, Tianyi, on this well-deserved recognition.
