This week we came together for a special Learning Support dinner where we had the pleasure of celebrating our incredible group of Peer Tutors, who are the strands that weave together our Learning Support whānau. It was an evening filled with pride, gratitude and a few bittersweet farewells.

The role of a peer tutor goes beyond the academic support they provide, it’s about creating connection, building trust and confidence, and empowering fellow students to succeed. We are privileged to say that our peer tutors truly embody what success looks like as they consistently demonstrate dedication, generosity, leadership, and genuine commitment to helping others grow.

We are so proud to highlight just a few of their recent achievements:

  • Chathurika Alwis has submitted her research thesis and was recently featured on the What’s up AIC podcast. An incredible milestone!
  • Meenudie Silva stepped into a teacher’s assistant role this block and received outstanding feedback for her work and contributions.
  • Satyam Kamboj demonstrated exceptional commitment this block, going above and beyond to support students and make a meaningful impact on their learning journey.

We also took time to acknowledge Haiyi (Andre) Yu and Shanibhai Miyani who will be moving forward into their next chapters as they complete their degrees. While we are sad to say goodbye, we couldn’t be more excited for what lies ahead for them.

Our peer tutor team is something truly special; embodying the core values of AIC they have formed a close-knit (whakahono), supportive community that lifts each other up (whakamana) and makes a real difference (whakatairangi) in the student experience. We feel incredibly privileged to work alongside such inspiring individuals.

Thank you to all our peer tutors for everything you do!
