The requirements for our computer login passwords are changing at the request of the Audit and Risk Committee. As of Monday 20 February, your computer login password will need to be at least eight characters long.
How do I change my password?
There are three ways to change your password.
- Login to an onsite computer, press Ctrl + Alt + Del and select Change password. Then follow the on screen instructions.
- Browse to http://changepassword.op.ac.nz and enter your username, current password and your new password and then submit
- Call the service desk and ask them to reset/change the password. Phone 0800 765 948 (New Zealand).

When do I need to change my password by?
If your password is currently less than 8 characters, please change your password before Monday 20 February to align your password to meet the new policy.
If you already have 8 or more characters in your password, you do not need to do anything.
Are there any other requirements for my password?
No. You don’t need to include special characters, numbers or capital letters if you don't want to.
