Māori Development and Kaitohutohu Office

The Office of the Kaitohutohu
upholds the mana of our partnership with Kā Papatipu Rūnaka ki Araiteuru and the local Māori community to advance the educational aspirations of iwi, hapū and whānau. Our team oversee the implementation of Te Rautaki Māori, Otago Polytechnic’s Māori Strategic Framework (MSF 2022), across the organisation to ensure that the priorities and objectives of the MSF are being progressed. We also have a role in supporting the educational aspirations of mana whenua and tauira Māori – and therefore their whānau – as well as the developmental aspirations of kaimahi Māori. Te amorangi ki mua, te hāpai ō ki muri – those who follow are as vital to the journey as those who lead (Wiremu Tawhai, as cited by Te Ururoa Flavell, 2012).
