Gail Woods – Magnolia tree, picnic table with plaque

Gail Woods worked as an Early Childhood Teacher at Polykids, formerly known as the Otago Polytechnic Childcare Centre, for 23 years from 1991 until 2014.

Gail was fondly known as “the Baby Whisperer”, due to her amazing gift in settling and caring for infants and toddlers. Gail was a much loved, valued and respected teacher, colleague, friend and mentor who is still very much remembered through the staff, families and children at Polykids whom she taught.

Gail’s husband Lyall attended the unveiling memorial ceremony in 2015 along with the families, teachers, and staff of Otago Polytechnic, both current and past.  A picnic table with her plaque was placed in the Polykids garden along with a favourite of Gail’s, a beautiful Magnolia tree planted in her memory. Gail’s family continue to visit when they are in the area.
