BN604002 - Nursing Practice: Mental Health & Addictions 2
Aim
This course enables learners to integrate with the dynamic mental health and addictions environment to develop and apply knowledge, skills, and theory under the supervision of a registered practitioner.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, learners will be able to articulate their clinical practice under the four domains of the competencies for registered nurses (Nursing Council of New Zealand 2022).
Domain One: Professional Responsibility
- Demonstrate professional behaviour at all
- Apply safe, sustainable, legal and ethical
- Apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to nursing

Domain Two: Management of Nursing Care
- Utilise appropriate frameworks for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
- Demonstrate clear, concise, timely and accurate
- Apply reflective processes to develop
- Provide appropriate health education to the health
Domain Three: Interpersonal Relationships
- Initiate, maintain and conclude effective therapeutic relationships in partnership with health consumers.
Domain Four: Interprofessional Health Care and Quality Improvement
- Identify the contributions of other health professionals and community resources in supporting health consumers
