Certificate in Professional Practice for Registered Nurses

This programme is also known as the Competency Assessment Programme (CAP) and is designed to support internationally Registered Nurses and New Zealand Registered Nurses to gain registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand. This programme is offered at the Te Pūkenga Otago Polytechnic campus in Dunedin or the Te Pūkenga Southern Institute of Technology campus in Invercargill.

Aim

The aim of this course is to enable learners to develop and practice and demonstrate competence in nursing practice in a contemporary New Zealand nursing context.


Learning Outcomes

At the successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate competence for nursing practice as stated in the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) domains of competence for the registered nurse scope of practice (2022).
